Reacting to erectile dysfunction

The easy answer to the question, “How should you react to erectile dysfunction?” is the standard, “Go on to the internet and buy the best drug from one of the online pharmacies.” Except, this is not the answer you should want to hear. We need to start with you being honest with yourself – in this, it may be a good idea to keep a diary. Yes, we all know this is a girlie thing to do. But it’s real easy to forget when stuff happens. Without some records, you are left with impressions that may be colored by anxiety and fear. It’s possible you are stampeding yourself into thinking there’s a real problem when it’s not actually that bad. Everyone has off days when not everything goes as it should. Sometimes we can put this down to the amount of alcohol we drank or the drugs we did. Sleep was just a more attractive option. Other times, we were stressed out by stuff at work and just not in the mood. So think about what was happening in your life. Was it just the erection that failed to get real hard, or did you get started alright and then lose it? How many times has this happened?

With the drugs so easily available over the internet, we can all “take precautions”. The erection failed this one time. Let’s make sure it never happens again. Except the casual use of powerful drugs is not always a good idea. Although the erectile dysfunction drugs have a great safety record and work almost every time, you might want to ask why you are having problems. Let’s be very clear about the biology here. If you are experiencing loss of hardness on a fairly regular basis and you are young, this can be a symptom of heart disease. Why is this?

An erection is formed when the walls of the artery leading into your penis dilates. You lose the erection when the same artery contracts back to its original size. This relies on the muscles in the artery wall working properly when you feel sexually stimulated. But if you have artherosclerosis, the arterial walls will not dilate properly. This is the first symptom of heart disease and occurs when a deposit builds up on the arterial walls. It’s most common among people with high levels of cholesterol and lipids in their blood. Now arteries are arteries. If you are having problems with the penile artery today, you could have the same problem with the arteries leading into your heart in about four or five years time. more…

Even with cheap health insurance, more people are dying

There are always people in positions of authority who want to take pride in what they do. They hold their heads up high when they know the US is the best in the world in their field of activity. So we wonder how those in the healthcare industry currently feel. There is a new study published this September showing the US ranks 49th in the international tables for life expectancy. Put another way and taking men and women together, you will live longer and have a better life if you live almost anywhere else in the developed world. The question is why. Of course, we have very high levels of obesity. Too many people continue to smoke, apparently believing they have a magic pass on the resulting cancers. We continue to kill and maim millions of people a year on our roads. All this before we get to diseases and disorders we have no control over. Yet none of these represents the real answer.

According to a new study published this October by the Columbia University School of Public Health, the answer is simple. As a nation, we spend more than most of the other developed nations on health, but our healthcare industry is inefficient and fails more people than it saves. Yes, you read that right. We allow more people to die young than most anywhere else! Let us take specifics. Go back to 1975 and you will find the US ranked 5th in the world for the survival rate among 45-year olds. That fell to 12th in 2005. But you are going to need the power of prayer to keep you alive if you are a women aged 65 and above. Between 1975 and 2005, women’s survival rates fell by 10% against the top twelve industrialized nations. more…

DON’T PANIC!

The two immortal words, always written in capitals, that appeared on the front cover of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. And just because it’s been picked on for fame by science fiction, doesn’t make it any less true for us stuck in the real world. In fact, when you count up the number of TV shows and movies where characters have run around in circles screaming, “Don’t panic”, it amounts to a supposedly comic epidemic. Not that it doesn’t happen in the real world. But, when it does, we spectators always look away in embarrassment, sometimes tinged with fear. After all, this one may have a good reason to panic. Have aliens just landed? Is this food poisoned? It’s easy to be paranoid. Panic is easily communicated. Try shouting “fire” in a crowded theater and find yourself arrested for some powerful criminal offenses when folk injure themselves trying to save themselves.

So how does panic get “disordered”? There’s a moment when uncertainty starts to get out of control, when fear of what may happen begins to build. Most of us control this all-too-human apprehension. But, when the uncertainty and fear never fade, they can bring life to a halt. It’s the paralysis we describe as the deer caught in the headlights. Except, people don’t stay paralyzed as the truck bears down on them. This is when the deer becomes a headless chicken running around the barnyard.

People with panic disorders are made to feel ashamed by our reaction to them. At a time when they need our help and support, we are turning away. Because they grow to fear more panic attacks, it’s easy to convert early symptoms into the full attack just by worrying about it. The disaster is provoked by a fear of that disaster. It most usually starts in the teen years and, unfortunately, more women than men have it – something which adds more shame to the men who cannot avoid displaying it. So, the first step is a full medical check-up. There can be physical reasons for these symptoms of sweating, weakness, fainting, chest pain, erratic heart beat, numbness in the hands, and so on. Only when these physical causes have been ruled out should you move on to discussing treatment for the disorder. more…

How to Profit from Industry Losses

The numbers are in and AIG, Allstate, Metlife, State Farm, and New York Life are not going to be happy-their industry continues to decline in profitability. This slide began in 2007 and shows no sign of letting up in 2010.

The numbers come from industry data collector and analyst SNL Financial, who showed that the industry lost over $900 million in quarter-two of 2010. Their net income, not profit, is down from this same time last year.

The bright side, the better capital and surplus numbers that are 17% higher than second-quarter 2009, are not enough to restore confidence in share-holders and brokers on Wall Street either.

However, the big shots at AIG, New York Life, etc, are still talking quite a game. They claim that the present market is an opportunity to grow stronger. They see that 2/3 of Americans are uninsured and think that they can capitalize on it. It’s tempting to dismiss this as bombast meant to boost the company’s stock prices. However, they are backing it up with action.

Tens of thousands of new agents are being hired this quarter. And hiring shows no signs of slowing down. more…

Xanax as a treatment for social anxiety disorder

This is one of those things it’s easy to say, but harder to do in the real world. It’s like the equally annoying, “Pull yourself together”. As if you had not realized you were a mess and needed to do something about it. Well, if you were able to do any pulling in the right direction, you would have done it weeks/months ago. Why is it people seem to want to judge you for your weaknesses and failings. Why can’t they be sympathetic and be more positive?

Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is really one of those phobias but, rather than include it alongside a fear of flying or of spiders, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) prefers to treat it as being a disorder in its own right. It does not matter whether the APA is right about the label, the reality of the problem is very real to all who suffer it. Except of course, those who have SAD live in fear of what people are saying about them. Hopefully, the fact the APA spend months if not years discussing whether SAD people should be in a class of their own should not make them more afraid.

So how do we recognise SAD? Well, at one time or another, we all get worried about appearing in public. Some shake at the thought of having to speak in front of an audience. Others worry if they have a job or some other duties involving meeting and interacting with people. “What will these people think of me? Will they find fault with what I say or do?” But it becomes SAD when you get way beyond simple shyness or nervousness. This is the type of anxiety that starts weeks or months in advance of any “event”. It’s usually one or two specific types of activity. Most social “everyday” living will be unaffected. We don’t stop going out shopping because we fear the mailman knocking at the door. But if you know you have to make a presentation to a meeting or take responsibility for a function or occasion, then the anxiety can build to traumatic levels. This happens even though the occasion should be joyous, e.g. the rest of the family coming round for Thanksgiving. more…

How to cope with arthritis?

In order to get rid of the pain associated with arthritis you first have to learn the actual problem and how it affects the body. Arthritis can occur in elbows, knees, wrists, jaw and other parts of the body. But the mechanism is the same everywhere. Arthritis is caused by the gradual thinning and loss of cartilage – the tissue that cushions the bone endings in joints and makes it possible to move them without friction.

A large number of arthritis patients have introduced some changes to their diets and experienced significant improvement in their condition. A diet rich with various acids (processed foods) is known to cause inflammation in joints. So the most obvious solution for relieving pain associated with arthritis is avoiding foods rich with acids. The best options here are fresh foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. If you will switch to raw foods altogether it will be much easier for you to deal with arthritis.

There are many solutions for arthritis that contain natural antioxidants and vitamins available on the market, claiming to have really impressive results for relieving the condition. However, these substances are usually found in fresh foods and they are usually consumed much better than dietary supplements. The main aim of such supplements is building up cartilage, and it’s highly recommended to take them if you observe that they really help you relieve the condition.

Quite often arthritis affects specific joints that are involved in basic motor functions, making it hard to move as you normally do. This is when it is very important to maintain a healthy weight, because any excessive weight will add to the pressure on the affected joints and make the problem even worse. If you already have weight problems, burning fat with arthritis will definitely be much harder. Any exercise will cause pain and aggravate the problem. So it would be easier to go with a diet program for loosing weight rather than exercising. Moreover, you can use the foods that build up cartilage and kill two birds with one stone. more…

Forget about sexual frustration

What is the reason for pain, sorrow and aggression? Before you start guessing, we should warn you to think about it seriously because the pain, sorrow and aggression really are a part of our day to say life. Some of them have financial surface, some lie deep inside us. But it is totally wrong to let the problems slip because they come back and hit our face with unbelievable strengths later on. Anything that there is to solve should be done. The issues carrying sexual character are not new to our world. Unfortunately, we do not all function in the same manner. We are pretty much the same but our health problems do differ. Erectile dysfunction is like a curse to men. They don’t expect this to happen but it does. It is like the worst fear that comes true. Sexual disorders do not have an excuse. They can appear because of age, other health problems or psychological issues. Yes, the more you think about it, the closer it becomes to you. It would be wrong to tell you not to take it too seriously. Every health problem should be taken care of. Erectile dysfunction can’t be terminated once it appeared at your 70s. It is there to stay because you got to the point in your life when you can no longer be sexually active. You can sustain your young spirit and sexually active mind with the help of pills but it means you have to keep your heritage in your pants until the right time comes. Get used to the idea that you cannot do without supplements. If you are only 35 or 40 years old and you never expected to become sexually disabled, it is your full right to start an active open fight with the malady with the help of doctors and medications. As we previously mentioned, the cause can be different but still much related to your body. Men’s reaction to erectile dysfunction can vary from one person to another. Some would not like to keep it frank and discuss it with anybody. But there are men that will get so scared and confused because of the whole situation that will knock on every possible door to find a way out. The second though is much better than the first. If there is a problem, it has to have its solution. Cialis is the solution to the erectile dysfunction issue. The drug can be found in America or Europe as well as in any other corners of the world. It is the medication the requires a very responsible patient because it is very easy to harm yourself with such an innocent pill. You cannot take more than 1 pill in 24 hours if you want to stay healthy with no overdose or side-effects. Cialis is portrayed as the treatment that is willing to gain your sexual forces back. It has very good positive feedback and men seem to advice the drug to each other together with their “get well “regards. Cialis will stop you from getting sexually aggressive or depressed. You won’t need to lay your head down for no time. more…

Different types of analgesics to use

If speaking in general terms, painkiller medications (analgesics) include any drug substances that can deliver pain relief effectively when used. In most cases these substances affect the central nervous system and decrease the intensity of pain signals transmitted to the brain or block these signals from entering the brain altogether. Thus, pain is eliminated without affecting the conscious state or providing anesthetic effects (numbing a part or the entire body and making it insensitive to any contact). There are many drugs that deliver pain relief effects to various extents, but they are usually grouped into two distinct classes: narcotic and non-narcotic painkillers. Different sources also suggest non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and other similar medications such as aspirin to painkillers because they are also known to provide pain relief effects to different degrees. Still, with these drugs the primary effect is elimination of inflammation (which can lead to pain relief in certain situations) and not the pain relief itself. That’s why it’s wrong to consider aspirin and any other anti-inflammatory drugs as painkillers. Non-narcotic analgesics Acetaminophen is regarded one of the most popular and widely available non-narcotic painkiller drugs out there available as an over-the-counter medication. Acetaminophen is very popular because of the low price and high effectiveness in cases of mild to moderate acute pain. So it has a wide range of applications where it can be used effectively. However, it requires the user to learn rules of safety when using it, because it may cause serious problems if taken in a wrong way. It may even lead to fatal outcomes if the dosage is exceeded. Taking more than 4000mg of Acetaminophen daily or consuming it over a long period of time delivers serious impact to the liver. Mixing it with alcohol will increase the impact and can even lead to liver failure? The outcomes are usually very serious and sometimes tragic so it is very important to keep the dosage low and avoid taking the drug for a long period of time. A little known fact is that more than 600 over-the-counter medications contain Acetaminophen in different amounts, so even if a person keeps the dosage low he or she may be mixing different drugs containing the substance and getting a high dosage in the end. Most commonly it is found in cold and cough medications. So make sure to study the contents of the drugs you’re using if you’re taking Acetaminophen for pain relief. Narcotic analgesics There are two main groups of narcotic painkillers known: opiates and opioids. Opiates are the older type of narcotic painkillers representing natural substances derived from opium (strong natural drug). Opioids are synthetic derivatives of opiates that are created to provide the same nerve-blocking effects but without the narcotic effects of opiates (lack of concentration, hallucinations, changed mind state). more…

Obesity myths exposed and explained

Obesity is commonly characterized by an excess of fat in the body. Obesity is observed to pass in families, but it’s not established that this is due to genetics. The problem is usually caused by the excess of calories taken with food that is simply more than the body needs for actual daily activities. Excessive weight raises the risk of developing other serious health problems such as hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases and other problems. Obesity has also been linked to strokes and specific types of cancer that ultimately lead to death. And the biggest problem with obesity is that it is becoming a problem throughout the whole world. It’s not a matter of image or how you look – being overweight is a very serious health issue that has to be dealt with. There are different rates at which people gain excessive weight. But the fact is that in the US alone obesity causes 300,000 deaths per year and people with a BMI over 30 are at a greater risk of fatal incidents.

Obesity is a health problem that should be addressed with much attention. However, it is still taken with prejudice by people no suffering from it. And there are widespread myths that are linked to obesity and people living with it that plague the modern society. Here are some things you have definitely heard about obesity:

The first myth is that obese people have weight problems simply because they do not attempt to lose weight at all. Of course, proper diet and physical activity can reduce the risk of developing obesity, but these are just some of the factors contributing to the problem, as there are more elements that have to be considered.

The second common belief is that obesity is only spread in welfare countries with excess of food and erroneous lifestyle, while in developing countries there’s no such thing as obesity. Fact is that even in poor countries with general nutrition problems in the population there are cases of obesity as well.

The third myth tells that obesity is linked to early death and is a very serious health problem. Of course, it is a major health concern and should be treated in any case. But the numerous studies have shown that underweight people have higher death risk than moderately obese persons.

The fourth myth says that weight gain in women is a natural process of maturity and there’s nothing to worry about. In reality, a mild weight gain with a couple of pounds can really be natural, especially after childbirth. However, if you gain 20 pounds, especially in a short time, it’s not natural and you should do something about it. more…
